The Listening Room
A Place to Talk.A Place to Be Heard.
Therapy is at the heart of The Listening Room — but the conversation doesn't end there.
I'm Dominique Balldin, a therapist, wife, mom of four, and someone endlessly interested in the way people connect. This is a place for thoughtful therapy, honest conversations about relationships and parenting, practical perspective, a little humor, and the everyday things that make life better.

Welcome
Thoughtful work begins with being heard.
The Listening Room started with a simple idea: people need places where they can talk honestly and feel heard.
Sometimes that happens in a therapy room. Sometimes it's a conversation about your marriage, your teenager, the patterns you swore you'd never repeat, or why you're saying yes when every part of you wants to say no. And sometimes we just need something useful, funny, beautiful, or easy that makes everyday life a little better.
That's what I want this space to hold.
Why the arches?
So much of what we carry didn't start with us.
The inside arch represents the person sitting in front of me today. The arches around it are everything that surrounds that person: relationships, family, experiences, patterns, and even the generations that came before.
I love the idea of looking at all of those layers while still focusing on the person who is here now. And the opening in the arches? That's the way forward.
What therapy with me looks like
Conversational, human and useful.
I'm not someone who is going to sit across from you, barely speak and just take notes. I ask questions. I listen. I want to understand the whole picture, and I want you to leave feeling like our time together was worth it.
There is real clinical work happening underneath all of that, but therapy should still feel human. If you're nervous about starting, that's okay. Most people don't walk into their first therapy appointment thinking, “I cannot wait to tell a stranger everything.”
Beyond the therapy room
Not everything we talk about here requires a diagnosis — or an appointment.
The Listening Room is also where I share thoughts on relationships, parenting, raising kids and teenagers, marriage, connection, and real life — with some humor mixed in, because sometimes that’s the only reasonable response.
And then there’s Dom’s Details — the parties, gifts, recipes, finds, and little things I genuinely love and would probably text to a friend anyway.
